Wednesday Night Catch-Up. Warning: LONG

(Constructed last night but finally posted today)

Haven’t done an update in quite some time. Believe I am due for one. That and my former roommate (and best of them all) now has a blog. She deserves more recent ramblings. Will break up segments with videos/links/randomness to break up monotony thus causing this post to be worthy of attention.

School
I’m hesitant to announce but I’m about 90% accepted to graduate this May. Yes, I have yet to be accepted. Filed the application once more 2 weeks ago and after numerous “discussions” everything is nearly resolved. The latest issues were a result of a woman who apparently lacks the ability to read and treat individuals with an ounce of kindness. So naturally she works in the registrar’s office where those are the exact requirements. She was even harsh to my mother over the phone. I believe she was asking for a death wish. Even if you’ve never met my mother, you know no good can come out of being cruel to both her and her daughter.

Anycan’twaittobefuckingdonewithMankatoway, when her superior arrives back in the office later this week I will discuss the matter with her. And plan to draft a letter which will be sent to any individual with power at the institute. Not only for this instance but the muck I’ve had to endure these past four years. Letter will be sent once diploma is safely within hands. I’m not that big of a fool.

Break 1!
There’s no denying that THE KING holds a special place in my heart. Granted, not the food associated with him but the man himself. However, I’m not sure how to interpret the latest marketing campaign geared to ghettofy today’s youth

It still exists. However it certainly feels like a job more than ever before. Even when I was working 40+ hours I was having more fun than now. Budget has been dramatically cut thus my hours have done the same. I may never have been so thankful as now to still live at home with the parents. I fear desperation will soon kick in for the job search. However motivation is still lacking. I’ll have bouts where I’ll dedicate an entire day to see what's available and it truly is slim pickings. Eventually I would like to leave my current residence. Hell, I really hope to make the big move to NYC in the nearish future. Even if the cost of living will likely give me a heart attack. It’s cool because my insurance is going to drop me soon anyways so I can just rot in the streets.
(Sidenote: that sounded unbearably cynical at the end! All I’m saying it the job market sucks and my health insurance is going to drop me sooner rather than later.)

Break 2!
Slightly dated news but it still brings glimmer to my life. While I fear the post-college experience, at least I won’t be beating up a whore.
Vince, the loveable ShamWow guy (another inexcusable love of mine) was arrested for wailing on a hooker. And wearing what appears to be a hospital gown. I just hope paramedics cleaned the carnage up with a ShamWow.
I hadn’t visited that link recently but it appears crime scene photos were released. Including some with (used!?) condoms on the bed. EWW. And apparently that outfit Vince sported in his mugshot WAS a hospital gown. If only his trademark microphone was attached.

Computer
My computer is dying. Actually it’s still in the same miserable shape as it’s been for several months now. However the parents realize now would be the perfect opportunity to shop for Tina’s graduation present.
What results is my father dedicating every waking hour to the task of finding the PERECT COMPUTER. And if things don’t go his way, he gets mad. Like ridiculously mad where I have to go downstairs to avoid making the situation worse. Perfect computer was found via Dell’s Outlet website. However, considering there was one of its kind, someone else purchased it while the father continued to search for other models.
Now I’m leaning towards this HP model. It’s more expensive but the reviews are crazy good and I think it’ll have a strong lasting power. Plus, I’ve looked at so many computers the past 2/3 days that they’re all starting to blur. The hindsight is that I couldn't walk into, say, a Best Buy if I had computer issues.

Updated Plans of Summer
  1. Mid-December/Early-January I made lists of future activities to save up for. They consisted of:
  2. 2009 trip to ComicCon. Virtually dead...not going to happen. Hotel prices would gauge me and I honestly don’t know who would attend such an event with me. On the flipside, the guest list isn’t excruciatingly interesting. Yes, there are certain individuals who would be lovely to meet but I won’t be cursing the stars for my lack of attendance. Some other year, I suppose. Besides, I think NYCComicCon is the new way to go. Next year?
  3. 2009 trip to Germany/Czech Republic. Certainly would be lovely and not necessarily impossible. However I’d be safe in assuming that’ll turn into 2010.
  4. General savings for move to NYC. Eh, lack of money is harming this but it will happen. Just a matter of “when.”
  5. Anime Detour. Didn’t happen. Didn’t purchase pre-sale tickets before they sold out and the cost at the door was past my tipping point. Besides, I am very exclusive when it comes to my anime choices. I am unaware of a great majority. Still might be nice to attend.
  6. Washington DC. Definitely going to happen. Was planning to go solo but more than likely it has become a family outing. Not sure how to feel about that. Parents pay but at the cost of me not fully enjoying then nightlife DC may offer me. I am strangely curious/excited over the thought about hitting up the bars with the brother.
  7. Family Xmas trip to Vegas. The brother is determined to make this happen.
And that would conclude the lists. Yes, they were mass in size and most are practically dead fish. Pretty much my expectations. NOW, to add to the list:
  1. Roadtrip to Indiana. Pitstop in Chicago along the way. Already would have my partner in crime who’s willing to attend. The question remains if I really want to test the waters on the individual I’d be visiting in Indiana. But the obligatory college road trip is a must. Wherever it may take us.
  2. Lollapalooza. Doubtful this would occur but invigorating thought. Another Chicago trip, but with a different companion. 3 days in a park listening to music.
Another favorite site of mine to add to the list:
Overheard in NYC

On the subject of Wolverine, my geek senses are stewing at the latest trailer. I’ll survive Gambit being in it, despite the fact he has NO back history with Wolverine. It’s to make the fangirls and the girls who let their boyfriend pick their latest date movie happy. Fine. I hate Emma Frost greatly but I’ll even survive with her in the movie. But CYCLOPS!? Continuity error, much? I certainly don’t think enough time has passed in-between this prequel and the first X-men movie where both characters would forget one another. OH! And let’s make Cyclops angst-ridden and rebellious just to show he hasn’t always had a stick up his ass. Yes, he has. Cyclops sucks.
Jean and Wolvie belong together.

50 of the Funniest Homeless Signs

I wrote the next part over a week ago with full intentions to post. However, it was around 4am and, even then, I knew I was in no state to actually post something and for it to be coherent the next day. It was not written while intoxicated....just merely exhausted.
It has been translated for those living outside my head but the material is still very much relevant.

Like many before me, this recession is kicking my ass. While assessing my budget I am currently on the cusp of spending more per week than what I’ve been earning. Work has dramatically slowed down and I’ve begun the new job search. However, in reality I am unsure where to start as I’m not certain of my geographic location in a year. Do I find a summer job or look for something permanent? I don’t think I’m quite ready to fly from the coup yet but I can not handle working at CBS much longer.

As a result, I have adapted to waste my days away through other means than work. Unfortunately it has taken the form of trashy television. I have yet to reach the point of Jerry Springer but he’s just around the corner, I fear. I’m attempting to memorize prices on the Price is Right so I can become an expert and win. Ala Barney from How I Met Your Mother but without the believe Bob Barker (or worse, Drew Carrey) is my father. But no, as stated before, I am not watching Jerry Springer. Price is Right at 10 and (don’t judge) judge programs to follow. In redemption they are often viewed in the accompaniment of my mother. Yet I’ve developed favorites as well as ones I loathe. Judge Judy is a frigid bitch. Judge Mathis is the best. Not only do I believe he is a pimp after the show but his bailiff is just wonderful. The latter has developed into another weird obsession of mine. If/when I make the roadtrip to Chicago I will coerce my copilot to attend a quick Judge Mathis taping.

Anyways, I eventually did realize that this amount of television is not healthy for my mental state. That being said, I am on the prowl for a hobby. Preferably while watching said programs (again, don’t judge).
Ideas I’ve had so far:
  • Be more productive around the house by cleaning more and other general house-tasks. Fruitless effort if I did so. The mother appears to be borderline OCD so any work I did would go unnoticed or be done incorrectly.
  • Take up the banjo and/or guitar. Problem: spendy! I did not expect banjos to fetch the amount of money they do
  • Paint more...any style (watercolor, acrylic, oil, etc...)
  • Quilting...specifically, the t-shirt quilt which I’ve yet to actually start
  • Latch-hook rugs. Just because I want to be referred to as a hooker
  • Embroidery
  • Macromedia Flash. Most beneficial towards me. Also costs money if I want to be good and legal with it
  • Some multimedia form?
  • Physically become more fit by re-taking up a gym membership. Problem lies in my lack of judge programs if that were to occur! However I was told about a rather nice one that offers free lessons with membership and am quite interested in discussing fees
  • Other??
Twitter
I has a Twitter account. And it’s far more addicting than it should be. My review of the service is always the same when asked, “I hate it yet log in daily.”

Foreign Rip-Offs Cooler Than Hollywood Originals.
My favorite is the following clip, a The Soviet Winnie the Pooh - Vinni Pukh from 1969:

Future Concerts
Not much considering the lack of funds coming my way. It positively includes Demetri Martin on May 30th.
Possibly includes Franz Ferdinand on April 28th at First Ave OR MC Chris on the same date at 7th Street Entry. I’m leaning more towards Franz Ferdinand as I saw/met MC Chris twice in 2008. And kind of a complete asshole.
The Sounds at Varsity Theatre...sometime soon. Another "maybe."

Your mother ever tell you not to talk to strangers? Well this site apparently makes it acceptable
“Omegle is a brand-new service for meeting new friends. When you use Omegle, we pick another user at random and let you have a one-on-one chat with each other. Chats are completely anonymous, although there is nothing to stop you from revealing personal details if you would like.”

The Fuck-It List, courtesy of Michael Ian Black.
What’s a Fuck-It List? Besides being the complete opposite of The Buck-It List, it’s:
“A Twitter thread devoted to things you really don’t give a fuck about doing before you die.”

I’ve yet to create an extensive list but what can be included would be:
Go skydiving
Watch Lost

Last but certainly not least, DOC HAMMER love. Being in the form of his band covering, “Shut up and Drive” by Rihanna, giving 10 valid reasons for doing so, and having a free download of the song
